IDG US/IDC Canada is searching  for a Solution Architect who will be accountable for the solution architecture. The successful candidate will define the future state for the applications and will ensure the solution architecture meets business needs. He or she will be able to operate effectively collaborating with multiple technology teams both internal and external, vendor partners and industry experts.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision and guidance of the VP of Enterprise Architecture, the Solution Architect for Knowledge Platform will:

• Provide overall solution architecture and architecture support for the implementation of solutions on multiple projects.
• Define/approve/review solution architecture that adheres to enterprise architecture standards and roadmaps.
• Ensure that the solution is consistent with the target architecture.
• Contribute to the successful delivery and quality of technology solutions.
• Assist with detailed system design to a point where implementation can proceed.
• Identifies and documents architecturally significant aspects of the systems.
• Creates documentation that defines solutions and provides clear direction to development teams.
• Responsible for the integration architecture and technical architecture for the business areas being supported.
• Participate in requirements gathering and ensuring vendor capabilities meet business needs.
• Assess envisioned systems architecture and recommend improvements.
• Actively research current and emerging technologies and propose changes where appropriate.
• Perform proof of concept as needed working with development and DevOps teams.
• Build and demonstrate trusting and credible relationships with product owners, business owners, business, and product engineering.
• Understand requirements and advise on scope and options for continuous operational improvement.
• Demonstrate creativity and innovation in applying solutions for the benefit of the customer/stakeholder.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required (Computer Science or related flied preferred).
  • 7+ years product development and/or IT experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience required as an application architect or technical architect
  • 5+ years’ experience in experience in developing portals, middleware, back-office applications, cloud native applications (AWS) using .NET or Java stack.
  • 5+ years’ experience in RDBMS, NoSQL databases and big data, Snowflake, AI
  • 3+ years’ experience in developing high performing microservices and event driven processing.
  • Experience or certifications in relevant technologies/disciplines (AWS certification preferred).

  • Knowledge of TOGAF, Generative AI and Agile delivery practices

  • Effective communication, presentation, collaboration and influencing skills.

  • Expertise with Microsoft Office and Modeling Tools such as Visio / Drawio.
  • This position is based in IDG’s Needham, MA office. We will consider remote candidates from an approved US office location in an EST Zone. We will consider remote Canadian locations or in the Greater Toronto area. You must be in the office 1-2 days/week in Toronto if you are located in the Greater Toronto area.
