Overview

The IDC Product Marketing Manager role is designed to help the company unlock new growth opportunities within key solution offerings by leading product marketing initiatives across and with cross-functional teams.


This is a new global role that will have an opportunity to optimize existing solutions, recommend and package new offerings, and support an increase in pipeline, bookings, and sales effectiveness. The Product Marketing Manager will play a key role in executing the GTM process by acting as the connective tissue between select Product Managers and the teams that drive go-to-market initiatives.

This person will execute the core PMM operating model and provide updates to key stakeholders. This role requires a strategic thinker who has experience with messaging, positioning, narrative design, and customer / market validation in addition to product launches, releases, sales plays, and other data-driven go-to-market strategies.

The successful candidate is a self-described life-long learner and will work cross-functionally to align business objectives, create and validate compelling value propositions, and support our GTM partners drive engagement with the stakeholders we support.

In the US, this role will have a 100% Remote work schedule.

 

In Canada, this role is located in our Toronto Office with a hybrid work schedule where anyone in the GTA will be required to come into the office 1 day a week. We will consider candidates located in Ontario, BC, Alberta or Nova Scotia with a 100% remote work from home schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Create and execute the core product marketing strategy cross-functionally for the personas and solutions you represent.
  • Develop clear accountabilities within the team, and across internal stakeholders to drive efficient and effective execution for key initiatives like product launches / release and GTM / sales play execution.
  • Mentor and inspire the team, and create a culture of joy and high productivity.
  • Partner with product and offering owners to build and maintain a system to track customer-focused roadmap plans and timing across business units. Centralize a POV on roadmap initiatives and develop a standardized customer-facing roadmap asset that is appropriate for customer consumption at different timeframes (eg, 3 years out vs. 1 year or 3 months).
  • Set a standard of excellence with proven messaging, positioning, and narrative development methodologies. Lead team to build these critical resources for existing and new offerings that resonate with target audiences around specific “jobs to be done.” Ensure and enforce customer and market validation. Ensure that all internal and external communications reflect the value and differentiation of our various targeted offerings.
  • Set the standard for world-class launch and release execution with operational support from an internal, program management partner. Ensure alignment across all functions and that all launch / release deliverables are created on-time and with high quality.
  • Build sales plays to support the solutions you represent and ensure its execution cross-functionally. Partner with colleagues to test sales plays, packages, messaging, narratives, content -- and more -- and validate hypotheses with customers and prospects.
  • Develop and/or partner to develop key pieces of content, including sales presentations, datasheets, web copy, demonstrations, and more.
  • Represent yourself as a pillar of excellence of what it means to be the connective tissue between the product/offering teams and the rest of the GTM value chain. Define clear accountabilities between teams in addition to an ongoing operating model that defines how you and your teams will support key stakeholders to achieve business goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in product marketing, preferably in the technology or data industries.
  • Strong positioning, messaging, and narrative development skills.
  • Experience with pricing strategy, market research, and customer validation techniques.
  • Proven track record of developing and launching successful products or services.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable plans.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple teams and business units.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced matrixed environment.

At IDC we are committed to fair and equitable pay practices. We pay our employees equitably for their work, commensurate with their individual skills and experience. Salary range and additional compensation, including discretionary bonuses and incentive pay, are determined by a rigorous review process. This process considers the experience, education, certifications, and skills required for the specific role, equity with similarly situated employees, as well as employer-verified US region-specific market data provided by an independent 3rd party partner. The expected total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is between $130,000 and $150,000 and is inclusive of base salary and variable compensation (if applicable).

 

Compensation for IDC Canada will be determined based on current market data for CAD dollars.
